‘Frag grenades. The other ones,’ Beth whispered to herself. She knew what Zeb had meant by the clarification. She patted her backpack casually. Every one of them had weapons in their gear, along with the launchers that could be slapped onto their HK. They wore loose coats to hide their backpacks and their rifles.

The night was cool and they were in dimly lit parts of the park. No one could tell they were carrying lethal weapons.

‘We need to get closer,’ Meghan murmured. ‘Once our grenades go through that sliding door, we need to enter before they can recover.’

She smiled as if her sister had cracked a joke and drifted closer to the hedge. She cocked her head casually and saw Bear and Chloe and Bwana and Broker close in as well. One family packed up their picnic hamper and set off towards the carpark, which was behind them.

‘Alright honey, let’s go,’ a mother’s voice floated from the other family.

‘I want to play some more,’ a girl protested.

‘You played enough. You’ve got school tomorrow.’

She watched the family from the corner of her eyes as she and Beth got closer to the hedge. Her phone was strapped to her left forearm, showing her the drone’s feed.

‘Those two watchers at the back are still relaxed,’ she briefed the team.

‘Guns?’ Zeb asked.

‘In the living room. Several of them on the floor. No weapons in the bedrooms.’

‘Figures. The social folks aren’t shooters.’

The last family left the park with the young girl still protesting.

Meghan checked her screen. The drone was in hover mode above the house, with its HD cameras covering both yards.

She and Beth were forty meters from the hedge. Bwana and Broker and Bear and Chloe flanked them. ‘We’re good.’

‘GO!’ Zeb commanded.
